The head of the state’s tourism agency announced a “dining out” fundraiser next Thursday, June 30, for the OneOrlando Fund.
Will Seccombe, president and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA, Thursday posted on the agency’s official blog, “Sunshine Matters.”
The fundraiser, co-sponsored by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, “will be a day for Florida restaurants, their employees and guests to make a difference in the lives of those affected” by the Orlando shooting, he said.
Participating restaurants will give through several options, including donating part of their day’s sales or making a donation for every guest served.
Proceeds will be donated to the fund, formed by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer after the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub that claimed 49 lives, the worst in U.S. history.
“Orlando and its residents are resilient, and I know they will continue to be a strong and welcoming community,” Seccombe wrote.
