New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker will join Florida Democrats at their annual fundraiser in Hollywood.
Booker is scheduled to speak Saturday night.
Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant praised Booker’s leadership in the U.S. Senate and as former mayor of Newark, N.J.
Booker joined with other Senate Democrats this week in demanding Congress approve stricter gun control laws in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Orlando that left 49 people killed and 53 injured.
Booker is a popular leader among Democrats and is considered one of many on a long list of potential running mates for Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton.
Formerly known as the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, the “Leadership Blue Gala” is held each year by the state party to raise money.
