A no-party candidate has filed to run against first-term Republican Rep. Jennifer Sullivan in House District 31.
Apopka resident Robert Rightmyer filed for the seat Thursday and is currently the only candidate running against Sullivan, who entered the House without any Election Day opposition two years ago.
Rightmyer is an alumnus of the University of Illinois and the University of Miami, where he earned a law degree in 1999.
The civil litigator currently runs his own solo law firm, The Rightmyer Law Firm, and formerly was a partner at the mega-firm Cole, Scott & Kissane and a senior counselor at Foley & Lardner.
According to Sullivan’s most recent campaign finance report, she had raised a total of $81,178 for her re-election campaign and had about $33,000 of that money on hand.
Rightmyer’s first campaign finance report, which will cover the second half of June, is not due until mid-July.
