Heisman Trophy-winner and former Florida Gator Tim Tebow on Tuesday visited with survivors of Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando.
Gov. Rick Scott‘s official schedule shows he had breakfast with Tebow, now a college football analyst for the SEC Network, early Tuesday morning.
In a statement, Scott said he and wife Ann “are grateful for the support of Tim Tebow and the many others who have taken time to meet with survivors and their families.”
“Since graduating from the University of Florida, Tim has continuously worked to improve the lives of others through his foundation, whose mission is to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need,” Scott said.
Scott named Tebow a “Great Floridian” in 2013. The University of Florida football team won national championships in 2006 and 2008 with Tebow on the field.
Tebow, 28, wasn’t the only high-profile visitor who stopped by Orlando Regional Medical Center this week.
On Monday, retired basketball megastar Shaquille O’Neal — who once played for the Orlando Magic — visited with Orlando City Soccer Club captain Ricardo Kakà and pro baseball outfielder Johnny Damon, who went to high school in the area.
