Ben Diamond continues to raise cash in the final weeks of his primary race against fellow Democrat Eric Lynn in the House District 68 race.
The 37-year-old Diamond raised $21,200 from Aug. 6 to Aug. 12, and his political action committee — “Protecting Pinellas Families” — brought in additional $27,500 in that same period. Among the contributors to his PAC was former Florida CFO Alex Sink, who contributed $5,000.
Diamond now has $13,655 cash-on-hand in his campaign coffers, while his PAC has nearly $8,600 on hand.
Lynn, 38, hasn’t been raising as much money of late, in part perhaps because he has more available. From Aug. 6 to Aug. 12, the former Defense Department official raised $2,835, but has slightly more than $20,00 on hand. His PAC — “Pinellas Community Voters Fund” — didn’t raise any funds in that week, but still has more than $33,000 on hand.
The two Democrats are competing for the nomination next week in the Pinellas County district. The winner will face Republican JB Benshimen in November.
