The Tampa Tiger Bay Club will host a debate among the state Senate District 18 candidates Friday. Not all of them, however, as Republican Dana Young won’t be in attendance.

That prompted one of her opponents in the contest — independent Joe Redner — to pay to place a billboard ad asking “Why Are You Hiding, Dana Young?”

An initial Tiger Bay debate with the SD 18 candidates was rescheduled when Young said she would be out of town for a parents weekend event with her daughter, a college freshman. The event was rescheduled for this Friday, but Young announced earlier this week she would not be able to make that event because of a funeral she has to attend.

The Redner billboard is located in four different locations — north- and southbound at Dale Mabry and Waters, at the Veterans Expressway near the Courtney Campbell Causeway, and near the Citrus Park Mall.

FloridaPolitics has reached out to the Young campaign for comment.
