Florida utilities regulator Ronald Brisé will serve another term on an advisory committee to the Federal Communications Commission.
FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler released a membership list for its Intergovernmental Advisory Committee on Dec. 29 indicating that Brisé would continue to serve as sole representative of state utility regulators through 2019.
Brisé has served on Florida’s Public Service Commission since 2010, and was first nominated to the FCC panel in 2011.
National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners President Robert Powelson nominated him for a new term on the panel.
“I’m honored to have been nominated by President Powelson and appointed by Chairman Wheeler,” Brisé said in a written statement released Tuesday by the PSC, “and I look forward to continuing our committee’s work with the FCC on facilitating programs that best serve the public interest in today’s communications sector.”
During the next two years, the panel “will focus on the role of state, local and tribal governments in facilitating broadband deployment and adoption, initiatives related to wireless infrastructure deployment, universal service programs, consumer complaints processes, and public safety issues,” the FCC said.
The panel comprises 15 members representing state, local and tribal governments with expertise in telecommunications policy.
