House Speaker Richard Corcoran is teaming up with Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano and a host of other county officials and corporate sponsors for a holiday food giveaway on December 15.
Corcoran and Fasano will be joined by county Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley, Property Appraiser Gary Joiner and Sheriff Chris Nocco for the event, which will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 9230 Ridge Road in Port Richey.
The annual giveaway has been going on for 23 years in Pasco County.
The 2017 edition will run from 9 AM to 11 AM and will be put on with help from Farm Share, a Homestead-based nonprofit group that aims to reduce food waste and combat hunger by connecting farmers who have excess produce with Floridians in need.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Farm Share delivered more than 1 million pounds of food to storm victims. It claims for every dollar it receives in donations, it can deliver 10 to 15 pounds of food – enough to feed a family of four.
Also pitching in on the giveaway are Lowes, Dayspring Academy, Bear Creek Nursing & Rehab Center and LOL Transport & Moving.
