Democrat Becca Tieder says she will not challenge Clearwater Republican state Rep. Chris Latvala in House District 67.
Tieder, a Clearwater native and third-generation Floridian, made the announcement on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
“After careful and thoughtful consideration, I have decided not to run for #FLHD67,” she wrote. “While I would be honored to represent my neighbors, it is not where I feel I am meant to serve my community at this time.”

Last month, Florida Politics reported that Teider set up Facebook political candidate page — @BeccaforFlorida — slated to “start May 1.” The domain name Becca4Florida.com had also been registered for about two months.
Tieder is a Florida-based activist against sexual assault on college campuses, along with Kelly Addington, who is traveled up the hundred 50 days a year since 2003 speaking at nearly 400 college campuses about sexual assault awareness, prevention and empowerment.
With Tieder declining to run, Latvala, who has held the Republican-leaning HD 67 seat since 2014, is currently unopposed. The qualifying period for state races begins noon, June 18, and continues through noon, hello June 22.
