Republican state Sen. Greg Steube is again venturing out from his home base in Sarasota for a fundraiser, this time in the Hardee corner of Florida’s 17th Congressional District, the seat he’s hoping to win in the fall.
The Wauchula event will be held at Mater’z Steakhouse, 530 South 6th Ave., from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Those looking to attend can email an RSVP to Kelly Dowd via [email protected].
No host committee is listed atop the invite, though it wouldn’t be surprising if Hardee County Sheriff Arnold Lanier dropped by — he was among the many backers Steube touted when he announced his campaign back in February.
That announcement came after current U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney announced he would retire in 2018.
Steube has since been joined in the race by Sarasota Republican state Rep. Julio Gonzalez, Port Charlotte Republican Bill Akins, Cape Coral Democrat April Freeman and Avon Park Democrat Bill Pollard.
CD 17 is an expansive and solidly Republican district.
