Your highlight reel of political tweets from over the weekend.
First, there was a bit of party-party messaging sent out via Florida’s top two U.S. Senate contenders.
Gov. Rick Scott, through his Senate campaign Twitter account, dished out commentary on a controversial clip in which U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dismissed positive unemployment numbers:
I grew up in a poor family and that’s why I believe having a job is the most important thing for a family. No one should be dismissive about the fact that so many families are finding a job. https://t.co/59QVGuFcsy
— Rick Scott (@ScottforFlorida) June 9, 2018
But Sen. Bill Nelson, the Democratic incumbent being challenged by Scott, conversely highlighted ‘inequality’ in wages amid the new unemployment numbers:
We are facing a pivotal moment in our country’s history, where inequality continues to grow, where wages are stagnant – and here, in Florida, 44% of households cannot even afford basic needs such as housing, childcare, and food. That’s unacceptable.
— Bill Nelson (@NelsonForSenate) June 9, 2018
And the Democratic gubernatorial debates Saturday night saw chippy tweets and more detailed responses to earlier questions from the candidates:
From Tallahassee Mayor and candidate Andrew Gillum:
When I was sued by the @NRA, @MayorLevine was nowhere to be found. #BringItHome #FLDemDebate
— Andrew Gillum (@AndrewGillum) June 9, 2018
Former Congresswoman and candidate Gwen Graham highlighted one of the softball questions toward the end of the debate:
The only thing @realDonaldTrump has done right is energized Floridians to take back our state — and in 2020 Florida is going to be the state that sends him back to New York City.
— Gwen Graham (@GwenGraham) June 9, 2018
Orlando businessman and candidate Chris King shared a stat relevant to the county of the debate venue:
Our criminal justice system disproportionately targets minorities — in Pinellas County, African Americans are 6X more likely to be arrested for marijuana. That's wrong. Chris will be a Governor determined to fight against that. #TeamKing #FLDemDebate
— Chris King (@ChrisKingFL) June 9, 2018
And former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine highlighted the need for automatic voting rights restoration for felons:

On the Republican side of the Governor’s race, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam attempted to remedy a story published Friday that undoubtedly called his leadership into question:
The headlines and stories that say that there were no background checks for a year are flat wrong, misleading and must be corrected. Today I set the record straight: https://t.co/qxbISog7zE
— Adam Putnam (@adamputnam) June 9, 2018
Meanwhile Republican U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, who’s competing against Putnam, campaigned in the Panhandle with area-Rep. Matt Gaetz:
The opioid epidemic has had a devastating effect on the lives of so many Floridians. Thank you to those who shared their stories with @RepMattGaetz and me this morning. pic.twitter.com/ybMqvLzj99

State Senator Denise Grimsley, also an Ag Comish candidate, saw confidence in Brevard:

On the Congressional side of things, it’s clear who Rep. Gaetz is gunning for to lead his home state:
Spoiler alert: he’s popular. https://t.co/DW0FQYDwST

And not too far away in Seminole, Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy appeared alongside Sen. Nelson:

Republican U.S. Rep. Brian Mast highlighted his work for a fight close to home in his district:
Discharges destroy our community, businesses are shuttered, people get sick and our environment is destroyed. This must end! That’s why I’m calling on the Army Corps to cease discharges immediately unless they can prove that the water is safe! pic.twitter.com/lNF1tdOquX
— Rep. Brian Mast (@RepBrianMast) June 9, 2018
Altamonte Springs Republican State Rep. Bob Cortes is pictured here showing Gov. Scott a bit of Puerto Rican culture near the I-4 corridor:

State Rep. Bobby Olszewski showed Twitter he’s the master of themed campaigning and selfies:

— Bobby Olszewski (@BobbyOlszewski) June 9, 2018
State House candidate Nick DiCeglie gave thanks where it’s due:

— Nick DiCeglie (@NickDiCeglie) June 9, 2018
State Rep. Jared Moskowitz, amid all the criticism piling in for Putnam, called for a select group of legislators to convene on the matter:
.calls for @adamputnam resignation are waste. Why was this a secret for a year? How many IG reports are secret? He tried to cover this up with legislation in the Agriculture package. It is time to convene the Florida House Government Accountability and Oversight committees.
— Jared MASKowitz 😷 (@JaredEMoskowitz) June 10, 2018
And one of Moskowitz’ earlier messages seemed to resonate with his Democratic colleague and legislative neighbor state Rep. Shevrin Jones:

— Shevrin “Shev” Jones (@ShevrinJones) June 9, 2018
