Sen. Bill Nelson has consistently said that he would ramp up his advertising after the primary election, and on cue comes what his campaign is billing as a “massive” ad buy.
The campaign is feisty, noting that “Nelson’s launching the ads after Rick Scott and his allies wasted over $40 million attacking him on TV without changing the race and with the campaign heading into the final two-month stretch.”
Nelson’s “Oath” and “Juramento” spots are intended to “highlight Nelson’s public service” from his Army days to his political career.
“The ad says what Bill Nelson is all about and what he’s always stood for – treating public office as a public trust, something his opponent has failed to do,” said campaign spokesperson Carlie Waibel. “Bill Nelson is a fifth generation Floridian who gets up everyday and does his job of fighting for all Floridians.”
“It’s been a privilege to serve our country,” Nelson asserts. “You’re there to serve the people, not the special interests. … If you know who you’re fighting for and you’re willing to put the politics aside, you can get a lot done.”
Chris Hartline asserted the following for the Scott campaign.
“In Bill Nelson’s latest ad he says ‘If you know who you’re fighting for and you’re willing to put the politics aside, you can get a lot done.’ We look forward to Bill Nelson’s next ad listing all of his accomplishments. Floridians will surely appreciate the 30 seconds of silence.”
