George Zimmerman, the Sanford man acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin, sent threatening text messages to Jay-Z and Beyoncé over the entertainers’ involvement in a documentary series about the 2012 shooting.
Filmmakers behind “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story“, a six-part series that began airing on The Paramount Channel in July, spent a great deal of time requesting interviews with people around Zimmerman, something which didn’t sit well with the shooter.
Hip hop mogul Jay-Z served as executive producer on the series, and Martin made clear he didn’t appreciate that in text messages to be shown in the final episode of the series, according to The Blast.
“Tell Jay-Z he’s a bitch and his wife [Beyoncé]’s a broke whore,” Zimmerman wrote.
“If I see either of them in my life, they’ll find themselves inside a 13 foot gator.”
Zimmerman sent the texts to private investigator Dennis Warren, who had reached out to individuals interviewed for the series. Warren said Zimmerman left him hundreds of voicemails and messages, but only the alligator comment was published by The Blast.
The shooting death of Martin made national headlines in 2012 after Sanford police elected not to arrest Zimmerman based on a claim of self-defense. Later, Gov. Rick Scott appointed a special prosecutor to the case, who did seek charges against Zimmerman. But a jury ultimately acquitted Zimmerman.
The case became a flashpoint in debate over Florida’s controversial Stand Your Ground law, which eliminates an individual’s duty to retreat and allows the use of deadly force if an individual fears their life is in danger.
Zimmerman has since made headlines for a variety of instances, including recent charges he stalked Warren.
He makes the news now as another Stand Your Ground case generates renewed debate regarding the state law.
The Blast previously reported Zimmerman in an interview with the website also threatened to feed Jay-Z to an alligator. He said then he knew “how to handle people” who mess with him.
“I have since February 2012,” he told the website.
The Stand Your Ground law doesn’t only apply to use of deadly force with a firearm, though it’s unclear how an alligator could be employed in an act of self-defense.
The final installment of the documentary series airs Monday at 10 p.m.

Ok clearly this man should have been convicted. He’s clearly stating that people who confronts him or mess with him he takes matters in his own hands and resolves the issue regardless of who it is. He should had had consequences for his actions and his threats need to be taken seriously because he is a ticking time bomb that now thinks he can get away with anything cause he got away with murder he needs to be stopped before others come up dead if that hasn’t already happened,
I mean these threats of feeding someone to a vicious animal is clearly saying he will do it if provoked. He has know respect for no one nor feelings or compassion and the jury clearly should be re-thinking what they did.
