Yet another police union blasts Andrew Gillum, backs Ron DeSantis

Cops and Ron DeSantis

The polls say that the race for Governor between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum is too close to call.

However, the battle for the hearts and minds of law enforcement is no contest: On Monday, DeSantis rolled out yet another endorsement from a police union.

The International Union of Police Associations, citing the “extreme positions” taken by Gillum during the campaign, said they “could not remain neutral.”

DeSantis now has been endorsed by every major police union in the state and over 50 county sheriffs.

“Mayor Gillum has proudly aligned himself with the Dream Defenders and has even signed their pledge. He has promised to ‘divest from prisons, detention centers and police’, which we view as a personal guarantee to make Florida, and those blessed to live here, less safe,” union president Sam Cabral said.

“Many politicians and candidates like to don the mantle of public safety, but few are willing to stand by the men and women who proudly wear the badge,” Cabral added.

“DeSantis was a Navy prosecutor and a Congressman. In both roles, he has always been a strong advocate for the public’s safety and for the men and women who provide for it. We are profoundly proud to stand with him,” Cabral continued.

In accepting the endorsement, DeSantis said, “Floridians deserve a Governor who will stand up for our heroes who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.”

DeSantis has spent the last week messaging heavily about the perfidy of the Dream Defenders, including a news conference with Northeast Florida sheriffs decrying the reform-minded left-wing group.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News Sunday, DeSantis amplified his position.

“He will not disavow them because this is who he is,” stated DeSantis. “I mean, when they are saying he is part of the movement they are not lying. He is one of them.”

Beyond being anti-police, DeSantis told the friendly outlet that the Dream Defenders were “definitely anti-Israel” and “anti-Semitic because they embrace the BDS movement which is anti-Semitic and I am not aware of Dream Defenders trying to boycott any other country in the world … It is the world’s only Jewish state that they seek to boycott.”

“And they actually sponsored trips to go to Israel and they do these flash mobs and they protest Israel. It is really, really bad. That is just one of the things. They want to replace capitalism with principles that are so radical they would make Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro blush,” DeSantis added.

“And I am just thinking to myself the people who stormed the beaches of Normandy to defeat the Nazis, they were not bullies. They saved the world.

“And America’s military has been a force for good. And yet for Dream Defenders, they think that America is a bully and that we need to radically reduce defense spending. So just across-the-board they are just so radical and just offensive certainly to most people in Florida who are good,” DeSantis concluded.

Sam Cabral, you have no idea how much damage you have done to your personal and professional reputation by “standing proudly” with DeSantis.
As law enforcement officers you all yell loudly to the citizens – we support a racist candidate; we support a candidate of no substance and we support a candidate that doesn’t care about ordinary citizen’s health care needs. Furthermore, you are standing proudly with a candidate that doesn’t understand or appreciate the seriousness of climate change; a candidate who has a voting record that is horrific in terms of our environment; you are supporting a candidate whose claim to fame is having his nose buried up Trump’s azz.

If you, Sam Cabral, and your fellow law enforcement officers think DeSantis is so great, where were you during the primary? You don’t have to answer, I’ll tell you. You were yelling how great a different ‘sorry azz’ candidate was and ignoring the hell out of DeSantis. And rightfully so.

Lastly, who gives a damn about what y’all say? I don’t and obviously a lot of other Florida voters don’t either. That is why Adam Putnam is on the sidelines.

@“Ray” I like apples and you like oranges , we both like fruit; yet you are not discriminating and I am……confused at how difficult that concept is to the ignorant….let me try to help; we agree whatever is best for citizens should be most important, yet one of us is a racist because we disagree with what we think is best for all citizens…..wait, according to your perspective, anyone disagreeing with you is racist and when I look up definition of being a racist, it’s strange that you match it by your own definition of actions….how about thinking purple – there are more races than black and white.
