An executive order was quietly filed last Friday.

State Rep. Emily Slosberg is facing “allegations” of “petit theft, trespass … and criminal mischief,” according to an executive order issued last week by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The document was signed and quietly posted to the Governor’s website last Friday with no announcement from DeSantis’ media team.

Slosberg, reached Friday morning, said she couldn’t immediately comment because she was trying to get more information.

DeSantis’ order does not suspend Slosberg, a Boca Raton Democrat, from office but does transfer the “investigation (and) prosecution” from Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg to Broward State Attorney Michael Satz.

The reason? Aronberg asked his office be removed from any case because he has a “close working relationship” with Slosberg and needs to avoid a conflict of interest or “appearance of impropriety,” the executive order said.

Slosberg was first elected in 2016. A Governor’s spokeswoman could not be reached Friday morning.

Mark Economou, Public Information Manager for the Boca Raton Police Department, said in an email investigators responded to an “incident” on Jan. 4.

He forwarded a copy of an incident report of a “burglary to residence” that does not include Slosberg’s name.

“Our investigation remains open and ongoing as we continue to consult with the State Attorney’s Office regarding this matter,” he added.

Economou said he could provide no other details because it’s active criminal investigative information. That usually means no arrest has been made or charges filed.
