The jurist died this week in Florida at the age of 99.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday said flags will lower to half-staff in the state to honor the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.

President Donald Trump “directed all flags to be lowered to half-staff,” DeSantis said in a statement released by his office.

“Pursuant to this direction, and to honor the life of John Paul Stevens and his dedicated service to his country, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from sunrise until sunset on the date of internment, Tuesday, July 23.”

Stevens will “lie in repose at the Supreme Court next Monday, a day before his funeral and burial at Arlington National Cemetery,” USA Today reported.

“Stevens, who served nearly 35 years on the high court until his retirement in 2010, died Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale after suffering a stroke. He was 99.”
