A President Donald Trump surrogate will speak at the Pinellas County Republican Party’s annual Reagan Day Dinner later this year.
Marc Lotter is the director of strategic communications (also known as “stratcomm”) for Trump’s reelection campaign. Lotter also is a regular guest on national cable outlets including Fox News, MSNBC and CNN, where he advocates for Trump’s policies.
Lotter previously served as a special assistant to Trump and as press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence.
“We are very excited to host Mr. Lotter and hear directly from the communications arm of the campaign to re-elect President Trump,” said Pinellas GOP Chairman Todd Jennings. “This is a big get for the Republican Party of Pinellas County and we expect Mr. Lotter to draw Republicans from across Tampa Bay.
The theme of the Pinellas GOP’s annual dinner is “Blue Jeans and Blazers.” The Lincoln Day Dinner, held earlier in the year, is the group’s largest fundraiser. The Reagan Day Dinner is Nov. 2.
During the group’s first event in April they raised nearly $100,000 for the local party.
“With the help of Mr. Lotter and his team, we will build on our fundraising and grassroots momentum heading in 2020,” Jennings said. “His presence is a testament to the important role Pinellas County will play in delivering Florida to Donald Trump as it did in 2016. As Pinellas County goes, so goes Florida, and as Florida goes, so goes the nation.”
The dinner will be held at Creek Under the Son Stables in Clearwater, which hosts an equine therapy program for children on the autism spectrum. Jennings’ son has autism.
“I am thrilled that we could spend the money on a venue that serves some of the most vulnerable among us,” Jennings said.
