Democratic Rep. Jennifer Webb will start campaigning in earnest later this month.

The first-term representative will hold a campaign kickoff fundraiser Sept. 24 at the Historic Peninsula Inn in Gulfport.

“I have been honored to serve my neighbors, local business owners, and families of District 69 in the Florida House over the past year,” Webb said in a campaign email.

“In my first year, I passed some important legislation and advocated for issues that would strengthen our district and all of Florida. Join us Tuesday so we can start this re-election season strong!”

Webb was one of a handful of Democrats to flip Republican-held House seats last year.

House District 69 was previously held by Republican Kathleen Peters, who is now on the Pinellas County Commission. Webb secured the seat with a 6-point win over Republican nominee Ray Blacklidge.

While Webb is currently unopposed, Blacklidge has publicly signaled he’ll make another run for the seat.

Though her 2020 kickoff is a few weeks away, Webb is already off to a solid start in fundraising.

As of July 31, she had raised $30,000 in hard money and had a little over $27,000 of that cash in the bank. She has another $6,000 or so in her affiliated political committee, Putting Community First.

HD 69 covers part of southern Pinellas County including coastal communities from Redington shores southward as well as a piece of mainland Pinellas.
