Gov. Rick Scott is releasing his spending priorities for the coming year.
The Republican governor is scheduled to announce his budget recommendations on Wednesday during the annual legislative planning meeting hosted by The Associated Press.
State lawmakers will use the proposed budget as a framework for a final budget that will be passed during the annual session that starts in March.
Scott has already announced key portions of his budget recommendations, including his push to cut roughly $500 million in taxes. Scott wants to exempt college textbooks from sales taxes. He also wants legislators to cut taxes charged on cellphones and cable television bills.
He also wants an $842 million increase for public schools that would come from both local property taxes and state dollars.
