Adam Giery, managing partner of Tampa-based consulting firm Strategos Group, is set to host Tampa’s TEDxSouth Howard Avenue event.
The event, set for Feb. 24 at Hyde House Public Studio, will highlight local stories with global impact. Those interested to speak, attend or volunteer for the event can register here. The speaker’s submission deadline is Oct. 15.
“I feel a desire to inspire the place I call home — Tampa. Reflecting on my life during COVID, I have two noticeable emotions — a deeper appreciation for human interaction and a desire to engage in meaningful dialogue. This led me to TEDx,” Giery said in a statement.
Giery hopes the event appeals to Tampa’s diverse population and looks beyond 2023. Giery has set a goal of 100% locally sourced talent, food and event support.
“The ideal audience reflects the many sub-communities within the Tampa community that make it so unique,” Giery continued. “The goal is to create an annual convening as diverse as Tampa, highlighting local leaders with distinct areas of expertise impacting our community’s long-term vision to encourage the audience to engage in the continued evolution of our great city.”
Giery will be working in partnership with blockchain and VR providers for a unique event experience.
“It is not enough to simply hear about these emerging technologies, I aspire to embed these experiences within the foundations of our event,” Giery said.
The event will be limited to 100 people, and will employ a lottery system to allow for equitable ticket distribution. Prospective attendees can join the ticket waitlist. Tickets will be a fixed fee of $100 per ticket. Lottery winners unable to afford the fixed price will be accommodated to ensure the greatest equity in attendance.
TEDx is a coalition of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a “TED-like” experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx as independently organized programs.
