Jessica Ehrlich, a former Capitol Hill staffer who has also spent more than a decade advising Fortune 500 companies, has joined Taylor English Duma to serve in the firm’s Real Estate and Corporate Practice groups and as a partner in the firm’s Southeastern Market.
Ehrlich has extensive experience in the private and government sectors, including as legislative counsel for two members of Congress on the House Financial Services and Ways and Means Committees, and as Chief of Staff for the Washington, D.C., Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking.
She has worked in the nation’s capital on a variety of financial issues, including major tax, securities, banking and insurance areas. She worked on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform legislation and played a role in the Consumer Protection Act.
Ehrlich has also worked in New York on investment research for Goldman Sachs and as a lawyer for Bloomberg LP.
In her new role, Ehrlich will work for the firm’s Miami, Tampa and Atlanta offices.
Ehrlich advises financial institutions on litigation and transactional matters, and provides guidance on handling complex finance transactions, foreclosures, workouts and loan restructurings. She also represents clients in the real estate sector on commercial office sales, leasing and land use issues.
She has appeared in every federal and bankruptcy court in Florida, representing clients in a range of legal matters. Her practice spans industries such as banking and financial services, private equity, real estate development, hospitality and luxury retail manufacturing.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to the firm as we continue to add tremendous talent to our team,” said Michele Stumpe, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Jessica’s litigation and transactional experience and depth of financial industry knowledge will be exceptional assets to both our Real Estate and Corporate Practice Groups.”
In addition to her professional work, Ehrlich has also served as a legal and financial analyst on both national and international media, lending her expert commentary on Court TV, Fox Business, MSNBC, Sky News, Sky News Arabia, The Times of London, CNBC Europe, NewsNation, Newsmax, Scripps News and Florida This Week, a broadcast based out of the local PBS station in Tampa, WEDU.
Ehrlich unsuccessfully challenged the late Republican Congressman, C.W. Bill Young, in Florida’s 13th Congressional District in 2012 and ran briefly again in the 2014 after Young passed away, but withdrew from the Democratic Primary after former Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink entered the race.
