SAVE’s 20th annual Champions of Equality Gala is coming to Miami Beach next month, and the county’s Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, is among the event’s honorees.
The nonprofit described Levine Cava as a “longtime ally and trailblazer in LGBTQ+ policy and protections.”
The celebration will be held May 10 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in the city’s vibrant Art Deco District and feature a “dynamic slate” of sponsors and “powerful mix” of public and private partners, a SAVE press note said.
Drag performer and activist Latrice Royale will also be recognized at the gala, which will feature a performance by award-winning artist and humanitarian Maya Azucena.
SAVE will announce additional honorees in the coming weeks.
Other elected leaders expected to participate include Miami-Dade Commissioners Marlein Bastien, Danielle Cohen Higgins, René García and Micky Steinberg. They, along with the city of Miami Beach itself, have “helped shape local policy and create more inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ residents,” SAVE said.
Corporate participants include Ader Hitt, Akerman LLP, EDGE Communications, Greenberg Traurig, Kauffman Rossin, MDW Communications, Royal Caribbean Group and Truist Wealth. Community partners include the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Our Fund Foundation, The Miami Foundation, LGBTQ+ Equity Fund and Equality Florida.
“For 20 years, the Champions of Equality Gala has been a place where the community comes together to honor progress — and push for more,” said SAVE Executive Director Todd Delmay, who is running for House District 101.
“This year’s sponsors reflect the strength and diversity of that community. Their support sends a clear message: we’re not backing down.”
The Champions of Equality Gala starts with a 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception, followed by a 7:30 p.m. dinner and award program. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available.
SAVE is a Miami-based organization that launched in 1993. It’s an acronym for “Safeguarding American Values for Everyone.”

The incomprehensible red state objection to any and all reference in America to diversity, equity, and inclusion goes against all common sense; and this Republican pursuit is a deliberate distraction from the continuation of the Republican agenda ….. their failed vision of our economy, government, education and national healthcare.
The fault is not DEI initiatives that are designed and meant to dismantle the division and hate perpetrated by right wing demigods….no the fault is attributable to the MAGA uneducated and the 80 million eligible voters who failed to participate in the 2024 election.
