Byron Donalds says relationship with Ron DeSantis still ‘frayed’ after backing Donald Trump

U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds‘ decision to back Donald Trump for President continues to have consequences.

During an interview with WPEC, the gubernatorial candidate and Congressman suggested that Gov. Ron DeSantis never got over the slight and that he doesn’t know if DeSantis would back his run for Governor.

“I want to have his support. I want to have his endorsement,” Donalds said of DeSantis. “I think our relationship was a little frayed after I backed President Trump. That’s the way politics works. It is what it is.”

Despite the current lack of communication, Donalds hopes to earn the current Governor’s backing.

“We’ll see what happens over the next month or two and who decides to do what. But I would love to have his support and, more than that, to pick his brain,” Donalds added.

Donalds also said experience drove the “tough decision” to back Trump over a Governor he endorsed in 2018.

“I understood where the country was because I was in Washington,” Donalds said.

“And what was clear to me after every debacle of Joe Biden’s administration — from the withdrawal in Afghanistan to the massive inflation to the wide-open borders — is that we needed somebody who could step in on Day 1 and completely change the entire apparatus of what was happening in Washington. And no disrespect intended toward DeSantis, he’s been a great Governor, but until you sat in that chair, it’s difficult for anybody.”

Donalds, if you are the Republican nominee, you will have his support / endorsement.

I just received $6618 working off my Iaptop this month. And if you think that’s cool, my divorced friend has twin toddlers and made 0ver $15781 her first m0nth. It feels so good making so much money when other people have to work for so much less.

HOPE FL debacle may have dashed Mrs. Dee hopes to be hub’s successor, let’s hope so, as she’s grossly unqualified. But that doesn’t mean Ron will choose Byron over his wife if she sidesteps out of this “charity” mess. Like he said, “That’s the way politics works. It is what it is.” And if Ron thinks if he just falls in line, he’ll have Trump’s support as a presidential candidate… hahaha I got a Florida state park to sell ya…

The republican brand might be pretty toxic by the time 2026 rolls around yet there seems to be plenty of counting the chickens before the eggs actually hatch going on. One thing you can say about trump is that he’s a vindictive bastard and he won’t soon forget rhonda’s impertinence running against him in the primaries. Are you not entertained, as they say.

      Bill,

IF Dems keep backing illegals over American citizens, men competing against women, blowing our tax dollars over cutting the wasteful spending, backing the rich over working families then the Dems will never sniff power in this state for a long time. The ONLY hope they have is keeping people glued to the fake news narratives. We’ve had enough of it though.

If you care about wasteful spending you should oppose extension of the 2017 tax cuts, which are claimed to add $4,600,000,000,000 to our deficit and which “back the rich over working families” under trickle down, supply side economics. Add to that $6,400,000,000 trillion lost from the stock market due to ill advised shenanigans, a shock to the bond market (predictable, but unforeseen by Trump’s experts), which had he not backed down could have seen an underminiing of our financial system. Of course maybe that was the desired result. Is your 401K better off now than it was before Liberation Day or do you like smaller numbers?

And don’t forget, because of Trump, and under his watch, the US dollar has lost 10% of its value.

Liberation Day “liberated” a significant chunk of my retirement savings, due to the stupidity and arrogance of the current president.

In 2003, there were a total of 5 trans athletes in the US (UCLA study). Not sure how that makes your life so miserable.
