Family of FSU shooting victim hires lawyers to ensure those responsible are ‘held to account’

Tiru Chabba was 1 of 2 men a gunman killed Thursday at FSU.

The family of a man killed during the mass shooting at Florida State University is hiring a pair of lawyers from his home state to potentially pursue legal action.

A press note from the Strom Law Firm in Columbia, South Carolina, said their objective is to “ensure that all those who bear responsibility for this senseless act of violence are held to account.”

Tiru Chabba, a 45-year-old executive with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, was one of two men fatally shot when a 20-year-old gunman opened fire on the school’s Tallahassee campus Thursday. He was visiting FSU for meetings with staff and university officials that day, The Daily Mail reported, citing online posts from those mourning Chabba’s death.

Fifty-seven-year-old Roberto Morales, FSU’s dining coordinator, was also killed. Six were hospitalized.

Chabba’s family has enlisted the services of Strom attorney Bakari Sellers and lawyer Jim Bannister, managing partner of Bannister Wyatt & Stalvey LLC.

Florida Politics contacted the Strom Law Firm for clarification on what legal action may be taken and against whom, and will update this report upon receipt of a response.

Chabba is survived by a wife and two children, according to the press note, which asked that media members respect the family’s privacy and direct questions to the Strom Law Firm or Michael Wukela of Wukela Communications.

“Tiru Chabba’s family is going through the unimaginable now. Instead of hiding Easter eggs and visiting with friends and family, they’re living a nightmare where this loving father and devoted husband was stolen from them in an act of senseless and preventable violence,” Sellers said in a statement.

“We ask you to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as we fight to ensure they see justice that honors the memories of Mr. Chabba and all the victims of Thursday’s shooting.”

The Daily Mail article states the intention is to sue “all those who bear responsibility.” Surely you don’t expect a full and complete list “clarification” mere hours after the event.

    Good evening Florida,
This is written in “Legaleeze” and as such the general public will not really understand what is going to happen.
    EARL WEIGHS IN:
What the intent is here is to bring our Senate President befor a court of law to address his role in the horarific killings.
Back Stabbin Ben will be brought to task for 2 things he did which allowed the killings.
1.) Ben killed the bill which would have allowed litterally 374 adults on campus (Faculity & Staff) to legally carry for their own protection and the protection of our Beloved Students.
2.) Back Stabbin Ben killed the Open Carry legislation in Florida which would have allowed any Florida citizens nearby campus to intervene and stop the shooter.
    Furthermore;
Had Ben not done the 2 above irresponsable things then this, or the next, or the next, …. or the next shooter would see they are outnumbered and never commit such hineious acts of murder here in The Great Free State of Florida.
I, Earl Pitts “Jurisprudance Expert” American, propose that Florida yank Back Stabbin Ben’s Passport to prevent his flight to a non-extridition country.
    IN CLOSING:
The above Sage Legal Explaination should help all the Non-Jurisprudance Experts out there understand what the legaleeze in the above artical is all about.
    Thank you, Florida,
    Earl Pitts “Jurisprudance Expert” American
