The Seminole Tribe is running television ads in hopes of convincing lawmakers to renegotiate its gambling compact.
The ads began airing Tuesday, the day after a major gambling bill was filed that would allow two massive casinos in South Florida and allow slot machines at dog tracks in Palm Beach and Lee counties
The 30-second ad tells viewers that the compact approved nearly five years ago has provided more than $1 billion to the state.
The portion of the compact that allows card games like blackjack will expire this year if it isn’t renegotiated.
The ad doesn’t specifically call for a new compact, but ends by saying, “The Seminole compact – a partnership that works for Florida.”
