Big-time Tallahassee influence firms ranked in regional magazine

Southern Political Report, a glossy quarterly focused on insider aspects of Dixie politics, has ranked the top law and lobbying firms in each southern state for its newest issue.

The top “small firms” (the magazine’s words, not ours) devoted to governmental affairs consulting in Florida were listed as follows:

  1. Ballard Partners
  2. Southern Strategy Group
  3. Capital City Consulting
  4. Corcoran & Johnston
  5. The Rubin Group

According to the magazine’s methodology, rankings were compiled based on “the results of an online survey sent to lobbyists and government affairs specialists across 13 Southern states,” with “various movers-and-shakers… in the know” also giving their counsel.

“Some are accomplished lobbyists themselves, or they are the clients big and small that they serve,” publisher Phil Kent explained.

The magazine also ranked Florida’s top law firms and associations.

The results – available on SPR‘s website – are listed below.

Law firms

  1. Foley & Lardner
  2. GrayRobinson
  3. Holland & Knight
  4. Akerman
  5. Greenberg Traurig

Associations

  1. Associated Industries of Florida
  2. Florida Chamber of Commerce
  3. Florida Health Care Association
  4. Organized Fisherman of Florida
  5. Arc of Florida

“Rating top governmental affairs firms is a thorny enterprise,” writes Kent in prelude to the magazine.

“But the Southern Political Report believes it is a service to our readers to attempt to rank the top governmental affairs firms and lobbyists who labor diligently in the legislative vineyards. After all, these men and women shape public policy all over the South,” wrote Kent.
