Cops ‘worried’ about Andrew Gillum, new ad from Republican governors claims

Gillum Worried

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum has the law enforcement community shook, according to a new ad from a GOP group.

Worried,” the latest spot from the Republican Governors Association, paints a disspiriting picture of the Tallahassee Mayor.

“The brave men and women of law enforcement are worried about Andrew Gillum because they know his radical agenda would make Florida less safe,” said RGA Communications Director Jon Thompson.

“Gillum is connected to the most radical forces in Florida and is a part of the same movement that wants an end to the current prison and policing system. Andrew Gillum’s radical anti-police agenda would be a disaster for Florida,” Thompson adds.

The script of the ad, read by sheriffs who long ago endorsed Ron DeSantis, covers the same ground.

“Law enforcement professionals are worried” about Gillum, “connected to the most radical forces in Florida.”

Those forces are embodied by the Dream Defenders, described herein as “radical” as “they want an end to the current police and prison system.”

The RGA here plays into DeSantis’ stretch-run messaging. For the last week, the Republican has messaged about Gillum’s support from the criminal justice reform group.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News Sunday, DeSantis amplified his position.

“He will not disavow them because this is who he is,” stated DeSantis. “I mean, when they are saying he is part of the movement they are not lying. He is one of them.”

The ad was paid for by the RGA’s Florida Facts committee, which has seen over $7.5 million raised and spent since August 2018.

Sounds like 5-0 is worried about a changing of the status quo. I wonder why they didn’t support Desantis over Putnam since he’s such a great law & order candidate?

When three white sheriffs attack a black candidate, making unsubstantiated claims of his ties to crime, the first thing that comes to mind is the entrenchment of racism in law enforcement. We’ve seen black men stopped and frisked for walking while black, driving while black, and now I guess it’s suspicious to run for office while black. This is prima facie racial profiling, and fits right in with the bigoted campaign DeSantis has run.
