On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott announced 10 appointments — including four reappointments — to a variety of state regulatory boards.
Board of Professional Geologists
Scott announced the appointments of Norman Meeks and Stanley Warden to the Board of Professional Geologists, responsible for licensing and regulating the practice of professional geology. Both are for terms ending Oct. 31, 2017.
Meeks, 46, of Valrico, is a geologist with CRA Inc. He succeeds Mervin Dale.
Warden, 53, of Tallahassee, is a contract manager and geologist with the Department of Environmental Protection. He succeeds James Funderburk.
Both appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
North Central Florida Regional Planning Council
Scott also announced two appointments and three reappointments to the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council, which serves Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union counties.
William Hunter, 59, of White Springs, is the human resources director for North Florida Community College. He succeeds Charles Williams for a term ending Oct. 1, 2015.
Daniel Webb, 41, of Lake Butler, is a managing attorney with Vernis and Bowling PA. He succeeds Andrew Smith for a term ending Oct. 1, 2015.
Sandra Haas, 67, of McAlpin, is a lawyer. Her reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 1, 2016.
James Montgomery, 81, of Lake City, is a teacher at Florida Gateway College. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 1, 2016.
Lorene Thomas, 73, of Old Town, is a retired real estate broker. Her reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 1.
The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Cape Canaveral Hospital District, Brevard County
Scott also announced the appointment of Brad Swezey to the Cape Canaveral Hospital District, Brevard County.
Swezey, 45, of Cocoa Beach, is the president of The GOAL People Inc., which provides information technology consulting services. He fills a vacant seat for a term ending Aug. 19, 2017.
Finally, Scott appointed of Paul Wilford and reappointed John Girdler to the Board of Opticianry, which ensures opticians meet minimum requirements for safe practice.
Wilford, 50, of Tallahassee, is an optician with the Tallahassee Eye Center. He succeeds Antonio Feroce for a term ending Oct. 31, 2017.
Girdler, 50, of Tallahassee, is an optician with Luxottica, Sears Optical. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Both appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
