As the Tampa Bay Times reported late Monday, one of their own became the subject of a recurring Tallahassee story: the Tennessee Street DUI arrest.
Michael Auslen, the youngest member of the Times‘ capitol bureau, was pulled over after officers were alerted to a speeding and swerving vehicle at about 11:15 p.m. this past Saturday.
In an affidavit, Auslen admitted to drinking at a local bar but couldn’t specify the exact location. His reported location at the time of arrest would place him nearest Cheeks Lounge at 2394 W. Tennessee St. or Zingales Billiards & Sports Bar at 1861 W. Tennessee St.
With a blood alcohol level of 0.175, Auslen was two times over the state’s legal limit of 0.08.
The former Eagle Scout has been working the Times political booze beat this session, covering the liquor store entrance initiative, as well as the craft beer industry’s growler push.
Any journalist can attest to getting too involved with the source material, but perhaps in the future this young upstart should stick with a safer alternative for those raucous Saturday evenings in the capital city.
