Gwen Graham calls for more moderate U.S. House budget

Gwen Graham today continued to stake out middle ground in Congress, issuing a statement on her opposition to the 2015 House budget, which passed early Wednesday evening.

“We need a budget that reflects America’s values, not partisan principles. We need a budget that strengthens Medicare and Social Security,” Graham said in an announcement released shortly following the budget’s approval GOP-controlled House.

She was careful to note that members of both parties, not just her fellow Democrats, casted ‘No’ votes on the budget.

“Both parties’ budgets have it wrong. The Democratic budget increases taxes and spending. The Republican budget ends Medicare’s guaranteed benefit,” Graham said. “It’s time for both parties to work together, and pass a budget that cuts wasteful spending and protects Medicare.”
