Gov. Rick Scott fired up his appointment pen Thursday, announcing 20 names to a variety of state regulatory boards. All of them are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Scott picked Michael Jaccoma to the Board of Pilot Commissioners, which is responsible for licensing and regulating harbor pilots.
Jaccoma, 57, of Davie, is a harbor pilot for the port of Miami. He succeeds John Fernandez for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Construction Industry Licensing Board
Scott also reappointed Andrew Allocco and Richard Kane to the Construction Industry Licensing Board, which regulates the licensing in the construction industry. Both reappointments are for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Allocco, 69, of Sebastian, is the president of Indian River Construction Services Inc. Kane, 60, of Satellite Beach, is the owner of KCMI.
Board of Landscape Architecture
Scott next reappointed Paul Kissinger to the Board of Landscape Architecture, a board that consists of consists of seven members: five landscape architects and two consumer members.
Kissinger, 51, of Fort Lauderdale, is a landscape architect and principal with EDSA Inc. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board
Scott appointed Joshua Harris to the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board (FREAB), a nine-member regulatory board headquartered in Orlando. FREAB administers, passes rules and enforces the real estate appraiser license law, Chapter 475, Part II of the Florida Statutes.
Harris, 32, of Orlando, is director of the Dr. P. Phillips Institute for Research and Education in Real Estate for the University of Central Florida College of Business Administration. He succeeds Christopher Sante for a term ending Oct. 31, 2017.
Scott named Lionel Rodriguez to the Florida Barbers’ Board, which certifies the licensing of applicants, reviews disciplinary cases, and conducts informal hearings relating to licenses and discipline.
Rodriguez, 79, of Orlando, is the owner and manager of Lionel’s Hair Systems. He fills a vacant seat for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Regulatory Council of Community Association Managers
Scott appointed Lisa Riddle to the Regulatory Council of Community Association Managers, which is responsible to license and regulate community association managers in the State of Florida.
Riddle, 51, of Boynton Beach, is vice president of operations for GRS Management Association. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending Oct. 31, 2016.
Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board
Scott reappointed Richard Gathright to the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board, which is responsible for licensing and regulating building code administrators, building code inspectors, and building code plans examiners.
Gathright, 64, of Lake Worth, is deputy building official for the Palm Beach County Building Division. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Florida Inland Navigation District
Scott named two appointments and four reappointments to the Florida Inland Navigation District, which functions as the “local sponsor” of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway project in Florida, a joint state and federal navigation project. The district provides all lands necessary for the navigation project including rights of way and management of dredged materials removed from the waterway channel.
Each of the terms are through Jan. 9, 2019.
Don Donaldson, 53, of Fort Pierce, is engineering department director for Martin County. He succeeds Gail Kavanagh.
Lynette Self, 61, of Jacksonville, is president and owner of Rose of Sharon Florist. She succeeds Aaron Bowman.
The four reappointments are:
Thomas “Spencer” Crowley, 40, of Miami, is an attorney and partner with Akerman LLP.
Charles Isiminger, 53, of North Palm Beach, is a professional engineer with Isiminger & Stubbs Engineering Inc.
Jonathan Netts, 72, of Palm Coast, is a captain with Orion Tow and Salvage.
Jerry Sansom, 67, of Rockledge, is the executive director of the Organized Fisherman of Florida.
Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees
Scott named Dr. Robert Scaringe to the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees.
Scaringe, 62, of Rockledge, is president and founder of Mainstream Engineering Corporation. He is a founding member of the Committee for More Manufacturing Jobs in Florida and previously served as a mentor and sponsor for the First Robotic Competition. He fills a vacant seat for a term ending June 30, 2017.
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota District Board of Trustees
Scott named John “Bob” Long Jr. to the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota District Board of Trustees.
Long, 75, of Sarasota, is chief executive officer of Marine Concepts. He has been a board member of the National Marine Manufacturers Association and was Florida Manufacturer of the Year in 2010. He succeeds Ann Moore for a term ending May 31, 2018.
Scott named Dr. Sandra Schwemmer and reappointed Dr. Joel Rose to the Board of Osteopathic Medicine, which is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining and educating osteopathic physicians to ensure safe practice in Florida.
Schwemmer, of Boca Raton, is the medical director of the Healthcare District of Palm Beach County Trauma Agency. She succeeds Dr. Ronald Burns for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Rose, of Tampa, is an osteopathic physician with Physicians Group. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.
Valencia College District Board of Trustees
Finally, Scott named Linda L. Gonzalez and reappointed Lewis M. Oliver III to the Valencia College District Board of Trustees.
Gonzalez, 64, of Orlando, is vice president of philanthropy and multicultural insights for the Orlando Magic. She is a board member for the Florida Commission on Community Service and the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund. Gonzalez succeeds Fernando Perez for a term ending May 31, 2018.
Oliver, 54, of Orlando, is an attorney and founding partner with Quinones & Oliver PL. He is reappointed for a term ending May 31, 2018.
