For a couple of days now, those following the Jacksonville mayoral race have wondered what the #UniteJax event teased by Duval County Republicans for Monday, April 13 was all about.
Turns out it’s all about a rally featuring Republican candidates and current Cabinet members on Monday 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Hyatt in downtown Jacksonville, the scene of Lenny Curry‘s party after the First Election, as well as a few other GOP events in this election cycle.
Attorney General Pam Bondi and Ag Secretary Adam Putnam will co-headline the event with Curry and sheriff hopeful Mike Williams. As well, city council candidates will be in the house, such as Anna Brosche, Al Ferraro, Sam Newby, Geoff Youngblood, Mike Anania, and Scott Wilson.
Democrats have pushed the meme that Curry has not made enough public appearances since the First Election. Monday’s event will formally repudiate that trope, even as Curry has been seen in public on numerous occasions since the election, including at One Spark, at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, and at an event with elected leaders at the Jacksonville beaches.
In packing the event with such out-of-county star power, meanwhile, Republicans clearly hope to present a united front to defray the perceived effect of GOP endorsements of Democrats in the mayoral and sheriff races this month.
