Capturing an image of the best in Sunshine State wildlife and nature can earn residents and visitors some appreciation — and prizes — in the latest Florida State Forest photo contest.

Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam has called for submissions of photos taken at one of Florida’s forests for a competition held every quarter by the Florida State Forest Service.

The agency’s photo contest encourages visitors to share images taken at one of more than three dozen Florida state forests.

“Our 37 state forests provide opportunities for individuals, families and children of all ages to enjoy the outdoors,” Putnam said in a statement. “The beautiful scenery, plant life and wildlife in our state forests create a setting for wonderful photographs.”

Contest rules and regulations, along with entry forms is at FreshFromFlorida.com, the website for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Photos are due by June 20. Winners receive a Florida Forest Service T-shirt and free access to a state forest campsite for three days.

Quarterly winners are also entered into the annual Photo of the Year contest.
