Rick Scott announces 5 board appointments

On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott announced five appointments to a variety of state regulatory boards.

Early Learning Coalition of North Florida

Scott began by appointing Brian Graham to the Early Learning Coalition of North Florida, which serves families in Baker, Bradford, Clay, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties.

Graham, 31, of Middleburg, is managing partner of Dixie Strategies LLC., a political consulting and public relations firm based in St. Augustine. His reappointment is for a term ending April 30, 2019.

Florida Defense Support Task Force

Scott then announced the appointment of Maj. Gen. Michael Calhoun to the Florida Defense Support Task Force, an organization to protect Florida’s military missions and installations. The task force works under the umbrellas of Enterprise Florida.

Calhoun, 61, of Lake Worth, is the Adjunct General of Florida. He succeeds Major General Emmett Titshaw for a term ending July 1, 2015.

Commission on the Status of Women

Scott named attorney Denise Dell Powell to the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. Created in 1991 as part of the Attorney General’s office, the FCSW is a nonpartisan board set up to recognize and support Florida women of all ages to help achieve their fullest potential.

Dell Powell, 50, of Orlando, is a partner with Burr & Forman. She succeeds Barbara Wall for a term ending Sept. 30, 2017.

Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties

Scott appointed Joel Rosen to the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties. The Coalition works to meet the early learning needs of community children and families.

Rosen, 78, of Palm Coast, is owner of AJ enterprises of Palm Coast Inc. He succeeds Ann Williams for a term ending April 30, 2019.

Union County Housing Authority

Finally, Scott announced the appointment of Donna Jackson to the Union County Housing Authority, which helps rural residents, including eligible seniors, find safe, sanitary and affordable housing.  

Jackson, 48, of Lake Butler, is an office manager for Pritchett Co. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending Aug. 7.
