To the surprise of absolutely no one, Republican State Attorney Angela Corey officially filed for re-election on May 28.
Her opponent, Wes White, had filed in March. His fundraising has been slow; he’s raised less than $8,000 so far.
White’s case against Corey is predicated on her having “failed largely in the court of public opinion. What we need to do is bring back trust in that office. And we need to address the rise in violent crime in Jacksonville.”
Corey has been a lightning rod for criticism in her tenure, given high-profile roles in the George Zimmerman and Michael Dunn trials. However, she is an indispensable part of the Republican power structure that currently rules Duval County. One suspects that White, who is also running as a Republican, will fight an uphill battle for name recognition and in making his case to replace a very well-established incumbent.
We have reached out to Corey’s office for comment, and will update this post once it is received.

Angela Corey has permitted her cousin to impersonate herself as a law enforcement officer to receive a claimed autopsy CD of Natasha Boykin murder case that is botched covered up and written off as suicide without investigation.
Corey admitted to my attorney and private investigator my daughter was murdered but then told media she concurred with police as claimed suicide.
Although they may tell you they investigated…..they did NOT! Ask 5hem for proof they cannot provide evidence or validity as their claimed suicide.
The Jacksonville Beach Police in their 7.36 miles area of coverage had reported 13 suicides to 1 homicide during the time of my daughters murder.
The police took pictures of the primary suspect with stippling on his forehead and hand you can only get from firing a gun. Tested positive for GSR and a weapon in pant leg but nothing was confIscated.
