Adding high-profile GOP firm suggests Jeff Miller interest in Senate run

Bernie Sanders Makes Announcement On VA Legislation Deal

Although Northwest Florida U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller faced only nominal challenges in every election district since 2001, a run for U.S. Senate is a different story.

A prospective Senate run may be why the Chumuckla Republican added the strategic services of OnMessage to his team.

It makes perfect sense, says Marc Caputo in POLITICO Florida Playbook.

OnMessage, the Annapolis, Md.-based firm, supported Rick Scott in both Florida governor’s races and boasts a full house of successes in 2014: Scott with polling, media and strategy; media and polling for Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas; and media for both Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado and Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina.

Caputo notes the company’s claim of playing a prominent role in the losses of four out of seven incumbent Democratic senators past decade. OnMessage also represented Republicans who beat a House Democrat the past four election cycles.

So the addition of such a powerhouse GOP firm might suggest Miller is considering run for Senate, Caputo writes. Also, Miller’s friend, State Sen. Don Gaetz, is considering a run for the U.S. House, instead of Marco Rubio’s Senate seat.
