Tolls on Florida’s Turnpike to rise Wednesday

Florida Tolls

It will soon cost a little more to travel on Florida’s Turnpike and other state-operated toll roads.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports the rates for SunPass users and the Toll by Plate system will rise by 1.6 percent starting July 1. The affected roads include the Turnpike, Alligator Alley, the Sawgrass Expressway in South Florida and the Beachline Expressway between Orlando and the Space Coast.

Starting Wednesday the rate for a trip on the entire length of the turnpike will rise from $20.07 to $20.41 for SunPass users and from $24.85 to $24.93 for Toll by Plate.

The tolls on Alligator Alley will increase by a nickel, from $2.85 to $2.90.

The increases don’t apply to express lanes on Interstates 95 and 595.
