Gov. Rick Scott’s wealth grew after spending millions on campaign

Florida Gov. Rick Scott continues to see his wealth grow even after spending millions on his own re-election campaign.

Scott filed his annual financial disclosure forms Tuesday. Scott’s net worth was nearly $146.6 million by the end of 2014, a jump of nearly 11 percent from 2013.

Scott’s wealth increased even though he dipped into his own fortune to help with his re-election campaign. Scott spent nearly $13 million of his money.

Most of his wealth is shielded from public view. He has nearly $128 million in a blind trust and the individual assets are not disclosed. Legal attempts to block Scott from utilizing a blind trust haven’t been successful.

Scott’s lawyers have also been successful so far against a lawsuit that contends he hasn’t disclosed the full amount of his wealth.
