Email insights: David Jolly says he’s already under attack by special interests

Just hours after launching his 2016 U.S. Senate bid, Congressman David Jolly is under attack.

But his campaign is already busy preparing.

According to a new email from campaign manager Nick Hansen, the Washington D.C. special interest establishment wasted no time pouncing on the Indian Shores Republican, who is seeking Marco Rubio’s open Senate seat.

“Organizations that are part of the selfish politics in Washington put loyalty to ideological scorecards over allegiance to our nation,” Hansen writes.

Jolly is “running to deliver results,” just as he has in the time since winning a special election to succeed the late U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young in Florida’s 13th Congressional District.

Hansen points out that Jolly is “an effective conservative” who delivers results for his constituents in the Tampa Bay region.

But with attacks from “special interest fundraising organizations” coming so quickly after the announcement, Jolly doesn’t have the luxury of waiting – even though the GOP primary is more than a year away.

He must hit the ground running, and now.

This means pushing to raise “critical funding” necessary to show “strength and dedication” to the Senate campaign effort.

Hansen does not want outside forces to choose who will best represent Floridians in the U.S. Senate.

That’s the job of Jolly – and voters.

Jolly may not have served long in the House – only about 15 months – but coming from a quintessential swing district like Pinellas County, as Adam Smith of the Tampa Bay Times notes, ensures that the representative will put constituents first.

As the self-described “true conservative” in the Florida Senate race – Jolly could be the best Republican alternative for his district, and all of Florida.

    A not-so-subtle canard by the Jolly campaign…
