Last month, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn told Florida Politics that he wasn’t thinking at all about his electoral future until after the 2016 election. The statement was somewhat noteworthy in that the mayor has not been shy about the fact that he is thinking of running for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2018.
A look at the July fundraising totals for One Florida, his political action committee, would indicate that it certainly isn’t a priority for anyone involved with the Team Buckhorn.
The super PAC took in just three contributions for the month, for a total of $2,500.
$500 came from RMC Property Group, a real estate company based in Tampa, and there were two $1,000 contributions: one from Republic Services of Florida, a trucking company out of Jacksonville , and $1,000 from Envirocycle, a recycling and solid waste collection company out of Fort Lauderdale.
Meanwhile, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam’s political action committee brought in a robust $106,840. That’s a total of 1,908,517.22.
Like Buckhorn, Putnam has also been rumored to be a candidate for Governor in 2018.
