Ron DeSantis attacks “liberal insanity Re: selling baby parts”

Planned-Parenthood

The latest email blast from the Ron DeSantis for Senate campaign is a brutal broadside aimed at the two frontrunners in the other party, Alan Grayson and Patrick Murphy.

“Someone has to stand up to left wing insanity on Planned Parenthood and yesterday’s comments by Rep. Alan Grayson and Rep. Patrick Murphy on twitter speak for themselves,” reads the dispatch from the DeSantis shop.

To recap the Twitter war:

Murphy was quoted as Tweeting that “2,345 supporters signed [his] petition to stand” with Planned Parenthood.

Then DeSantis Tweeted that Murphy and Grayson “support taxpayer $ for org that sells baby parts.”

Next, Grayson jumped in, charging that DeSantis’ “anti-PP” bill would cause more women to get cancer, contract STDs, and die.

The DeSantis campaign, as one might expect, made use of this clear divergence in perspective.

“Together Grayson and Murphy are desperately trying to justify Planned Parenthood selling body parts of babies as protecting women’s health,” the DeSantis shop wrote. “You are probably thinking the same thing we are – how, exactly, does selling baby parts contribute to women’s health?”

“DON’T let Grayson and Murphy’s antics distract you from the truth. Hold organizations like Planned Parenthood that operate with such callous disregard for life accountable – and demand answers for these horrific actions immediately,” the email continued, before making a pitch for a donation of $15 or more.

When contacted for comment, Joshua Karp, comms director for Murphy, wrote the following:

“I’m not sure what’s more disturbing: that Ron DeSantis is trying to raise money off these false extremist attacks, or that every single Republican running for Senate wants to defund essential health care for women.”
