Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer continued his impressive drive in July toward a fifth term with $115,000 in campaign contributions.
His haul consisted of $95,000 in donations made to his individual account and an additional $20,000 coming from his super PAC Moving Orlando Forward. He’s reached $290,000 for the campaign with about $245,000 of it on hand.
The bipartisan group of donors included the Orlando Chamber of Commerce, several firefighter unions and political action committees from across the state, as well as major lobbying and developing powerhouses in the area.
Dyer has no major opposition at this point. The only challenger filed to run against him, Ronald Muroski has raised $20 and has no visible campaign identity in the area. The qualifying period ends next month.
The mayor, along with three other city commissioners — Tony Ortiz, Patty Sheehan, and Sam Ings — will be up for re-election this November. The originally scheduled spring 2016 municipal elections, were moved up to this year to avoid conflict with the presidential primary to take place near the same time.
All of the incumbents are favored for re-election.
