Adams Street fixture Colodny Fass brought in an estimated $735,000 during the most recent reporting quarter, according to recently submitted lobbying compensation reports.
Colodny’s single largest contract was for executive branch lobbying on behalf of WellCare Health Plans – the Tampa-based Medicaid and Medicare coordinators paid between $30,000 – $39,999 to the firm between April 1 and June 30, plus another approximately $25,000 for legislative representation, for a total of some $60,000 all told.
Federated National Insurance, Lexington National Insurance and Team Focus Insurance tied for the second-highest executive contracts, paying between $20,000 – $29,999 each for representation before executive agencies. We’re guessing Colodny’s team became very familiar at the Office of Insurance Regulation and with CFO Jeff Atwater.
Altogether the firm earned $410,000 for legislative lobbying services and $325,000 for executive representation.
Though the firm’s client list was dominated by insurance interests – Southern Fidelity, Florida Property & Casualty Association and Universal Insurance Company were among the dozens of related concerns on their 132-contract roster – the firm also had a substantial portfolio of industrial principals.
WhiteRock Quarries, Cemex Construction Materials, and Miami Dade Limestone all dug deep in Q2 to contribute six figures to Colodny Fass’ ledger books.
Broward League of Cities and the School Board of Broward County were the firm’s lone municipal clients, paying an estimated $15,000 combined for advocacy in Tallahassee.
Led by shareholder Michael Colodny, the firm’s stable of influence professionals was 12 strong during Q2 – including former Insurance Commissioner Tom Gallagher, Donovan Brown, H. Douglas Bruce, Nicole Fried, , Trevor Mask, and Katherine Webb.
State law requires lobbying firms to submit compensation reports quarterly. They are permitted in most cases to simply report an approximate range of client compensation — e.g. $1 – $9,999 – in lieu of the specific dollar amount.
