Don’t expect to see Marty Fiorentino, Peter Rummell, John Rood, Ed Burr, Steve Diebenow or Ty Petway at Jacksonville’s City Council meeting on Tuesday. Those names, and those of a couple of dozen other #jaxpol heavy hitters, are on the committee for a Jeb Bush fundraiser at Grape and Grain in San Marco Tuesday evening at 5:30.
We reported first on this fundraiser a few days ago, yet more details have emerged since.
While the “joyful tortoise” will not be in Duval, his son and namesake, Jeb Bush, Jr. will be.
The Mission: Next reception’s co-chairs are responsible for raising or donating $2,700 for the event which targets young professionals, yet includes more seasoned pros on the committee, in addition to new blood like Southern Strategy Group’s rising star Matt Brockelman.
Most of the names on this committee are capable of donations at that level, or reaching out and touching those with such capability. Many of them were instrumental in the Lenny Curry campaign PAC “Together for a Greater Jacksonville.”
Those with long memories will not be surprised that this group has come together for this fundraiser. The symbiosis between the Bush family and Duval Republicans was forged in earnest during the 1988 George H.W. Bush campaign, and proceeded apace while Jeb Bush served as Governor and John Delaney as mayor.
For those wondering if Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush would be the choice of the NE Florida GOP moneymen, wonder no more. That question has been answered.
