Monday morning, Democratic candidate Susannah Randolph announced two endorsements from progressive organizations in her bid to replace Alan Grayson in Florida’s 9th Congressional District.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America are each backing Randolph, Grayson’s former congressional District Director.

In a statement, PCC officials say Randolph “has dedicated her life to making progressive victories happen as an advocate, community leader and organizer. She spearheaded successful efforts to pass an ordinance against wage theft that led to Florida’s strongest wage recovery program.”

Randolph was grateful for the support, responding: “I am proud to be endorsed by two of the groups who helped elect Elizabeth Warren, a woman who brings original thinking, political courage, and relentless persistence to her ongoing fight for America’s middle class.”

Two of her biggest challengers in the nationally watched Democratic primary, state Sen. Darren Soto and former state Rep. Ricardo Rangel say they were never contacted by either organization. Other candidates in the race are biochemist Dr. Dena Minning, who is Grayson’s girlfriend, as well as business executive Valleri Crabtree. On the Republican side, business executive Wayne Liebnitzsky has filed to run.

CD 9 consists of parts of Orange, Osceola, and Polk Counties.
