One of the most active and consistent fundraising operations in Northeast Florida this cycle is that of HD 16 Republican Jason Fischer. The Jacksonville Republican, between his “Conservative Solutions for Jacksonville” PAC and campaign accounts, brought in $23,700 in total in September, with $20,000 of it on the PAC side, bringing that tally up to $60,000.
All told, Fischer has $23,700 combined for September and $177,890 combined for the race, from donors including Property Appraiser Jerry Holland, CSX, HCA Hospitals and Rep. Travis Cummings’ PAC (First Coast Conservatives).
There has been talk a third candidate will get into the race. It seems difficult, though, to imagine someone coming in against a candidate with institutional distinction and a significant organizing and fundraising head start. That said, he does have one opponent, Jacksonville political veteran Dick Kravitz, a former legislator and City Councilman in his own right.
Kravitz raised $2,200 in September, bringing his total to $32,500.
Fischer now holds a fundraising advantage of more than five to one. Kravitz has said he’s not worried about fundraising in the past, but Fischer’s advantage is he can afford any type of campaigning in his district. As well, his political operatives are among the best in the business.
