Rhea Chiles memorial to be streamed on Florida Channel

Rhea Chiles

Funeral services for former Florida First Lady Rhea Chiles will begin Monday 11 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee.

She will then be buried next to her husband, the late former Florida Governor Lawton Chiles.

The Chiles family has made arrangements for The Florida Channel to provide live streaming of the services to accommodate friends and family who are unable to attend in person.

Live streaming is available anywhere in the country at www.thefloridachannel.com, and there will be a gathering in Anna Maria Island to watch the services.

Ed Chiles, Rhea and Lawton’s son, said in a statement the family was conflicted about doing two services, one in Anna Maria and another in Tallahassee.

Instead, the family is inviting friends to gather at The Studio at Gulf and Pines, 10101 Gulf Dr. in Anna Maria Island beginning at 10:30 a.m. to watch the Tallahassee service.

“The Studio at Gulf and Pine was our mother’s last project and was a great culmination of the talent and style she possessed and utilized to create things that provided great benefit to Floridians,” said Ed Chiles.

“The studio is a wonderful anchor on Pine Avenue in Anna Maria for community and cultural events. We hope by doing this we can give those who lives she touched in our local Anna Maria community the chance to say goodbye to one of its great citizens,” he added.

The Studio doors will open Monday at 10:30 a.m.
