Hillary Clinton campaign announces list of 150 Florida Democratic supporters

Upon looking at the list of Florida Democrats supporting Hillary Clinton for president released overnight by her campaign, the question is: What prominent Democrat isn’t on the list?

The list of 150 comprises what is being called the “Florida Leadership Council,” formed to help the former secretary of state win the March 15 Florida Democratic presidential primary. Leading the team is Florida’s highest-ranking Democrat, Sen. Bill Nelson, along with former Sen. Bob Graham, nearly every member of Congress (including Alan Grayson and Patrick Murphy), more than two-thirds of state HoU.S.e Democrats, and mayors such as Bob Buckhorn from Tampa, Rick Kriseman from St. Petersburg, Philip Levine from Miami Beach and Orlando’s Buddy Dyer.

According to the statement released by the campaign, the Florida Leadership Council will serve as the in-state leadership for the campaign, “amplifying the campaign’s national voice to Florida families aiding the campaign with rapid response, organization building, grass roots organizing events, recruiting volunteer leaders, and identifying leaders for Get Out the Vote activities.”

The statement includes testimonials from some of those Democrats supporting her.

“As a young mother who attended community college and worked hard to make ends meet, I know Hillary Clinton will fight to ensure that every mother has access to quality health care, that every student’s dream of an education come true, and that we are all treated equally with dignity and respect,” said state Rep. Janet Cruz of Tampa, incoming HoU.S.e Democratic Leader.

“I am pleased to lend my support to Hillary Clinton,” said HoU.S.e Democratic Leader Pro Tempore Mia Jones of Jacksonville. “For years, as a first lady, senator and Secretary of State, Hillary has championed the caU.S.e of both women’s and human rights issues. As president, Hillary will continue to move our country forward. It will be my pleasure to secure Florida for Clinton.”

The Republican Party of Florida is not impressed.

Unfortunately for Hillary Clinton, a list of liberal endorsements won’t erase her unsuccessful record as Secretary of State, the negative headlines haunting her campaign, or the FBI investigation into her secret email server,” said RPOF Communications Director Wadi Gaiten.

Fun fact demonstrating Hillary Clinton’s popularity in Florida: When she ran against the less well-known Barack Obama in the Democratic primary in 2008 (that initially didn’t count becaU.S.e of sanctions put on the Florida Democratic Party by the Democratic National Committee for moving the election up too soon), Clinton handily defeated the future president, 50-33 percent.
