Rob Fields, chief information officer of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, is joining One Eighty Consulting, a Tallahassee-based governmental affairs consultancy firm.
Fields, a 14-year-veteran of Florida state government, has been a top adviser to several senior government leaders on a variety of issues: health care, banking, insurance, motor vehicle and law enforcement.
In a prepared statement Tuesday, Fields said he was “really excited” to be moving from the public to private sector.
“One Eighty Consulting is the perfect place for me to be a positive voice for technology “ he said. “They are unique in the experience they bring, the access they have to decision-makers and the knowledge they have about what’s really happening within government.”
Among his various roles in Florida state government, Fields was chief information officer at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, where he oversaw the agency’s information technology strategy. DHSMV is a $430 million state agency with 4,500 employees in 73 state offices and 300 partner sites. Fields also acted as CIO for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, as well as chief of distributed infrastructure for the Florida Department of Financial Services.
“Rob’s remarkable work ethic, collaborative personality and drive to help technology innovators makes him a tremendous addition to our team,” said Don Yaeger, the president of One Eighty Consulting. “Culture matters at 180 and he is a perfect fit. Our clients are getting a strong advocate and thoughtful partner who has a history of delivering high-impact solutions that produce outstanding results.”
