Jeb Bush brings campaign to Florida for daylong swing

Jeb Bush

With a little more than a month before voters in Iowa and New Hampshire head to the polls, Jeb Bush is spending the day campaigning in familiar territory: his home state.

Bush is scheduled to attend three stops in Florida on Monday, before packing his bags and heading back to New Hampshire for campaign events Tuesday.

Bush will kick off his Florida campaign swing with a meet-and-greet at Chico’s Restaurant in Hialeah. The event is expected to begin shortly after 8 a.m.

From there, he is scheduled to attend the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches. The speech, which is slated to begin around noon, marks Bush’s first appearance at the club since serving as governor. The event is being held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

The former governor will round out his day with a stop in Ocala. The town hall is scheduled to begin around 3 p.m. at the Circle Square Commons Cultural Center.

The Florida swing comes as Bush’s presidential campaign continues to lag behind in the polls. Recent polls show Bush in sixth place, behind front-runner Donald Trump and U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida.

But his campaign isn’t just struggling in national polls. Bush is in fourth place in Florida, according to the polling aggregation website RealClearPolitics. Trump leads the pack in Florida, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls taken between Nov. 15 and Dec. 16.

Bush heads back to New Hampshire, where he’s spent a considerable amount of time in recent weeks, for a town-hall meeting in Peterborough on Tuesday.
